Post-Launch Hotfixes

Cult of PiN launched on 10 August 2026 and then received a rapid chain of solo-dev hotfixes. This page summarises the player-facing changes from Hotfix #1 through Hotfix #6 so you do not have to dig through every Steam announcement.

Use it alongside v1.0 Launch Notes, the longer Patch History, and the Post-Release Roadmap.

Hotfix #1 (11 Aug) — ceilings and first balance

Endless stage cap rose from Act XX to Act XXX. The in-game score ceiling jumped from about 2.4 billion to 9.2 quintillion, with leaderboards updated to match. Peek-Up rebinding, Inverted Flipper Curse activation, and several achievement edge cases were fixed. Cheater and Warden ball Rituals dropped from eight required missions to six.

Hotfix #2 (12 Aug) — stability and Abandon Run

Memory optimisations targeted long-session crashes. Beating Act XXX now resets the board instead of crashing. An Abandon Run menu option ends the run while still submitting the score. Endless Multiball no longer treats Blockers as immune. Chancellor’s mana-on-Act-up passive was cut from 100% of current mana to 20%. Ball Save Blessing only saves the first ball lost inside its sixty-second window.

Hotfix #3 (12 Aug) — bosses and physics

Physics load and shop logic were reworked for crash resistance. Table 3 boss spawn and decoy despawn bugs were fixed. Bonus Table Multiball no longer ends early when you lose a ball while multiple bonus balls are active. Rotation-spell flipper placement on Bonus Tables was corrected. Monarch damage-after-win and Ritual/Blessing UI overlap during boss slow-mo were cleaned up.

Hotfix #4 (13 Aug) — Graphics Jobs crash

Community logs revealed an engine Graphics Jobs setting causing hard-to-reproduce crashes; it was disabled. Act 29/30 damage overflow, Shadowed Glyph slot exploits, Tempest achievement requiring 100 triggers, Table 4 decoy balls, and Table 3 clipping received fixes.

Hotfix #5 (15 Aug) — Abandon Ball and nudge rebinds

Abandon Ball clears a stuck ball for the cost of one spare ball. On Bonus Tables the same control skips without spending a spare. Directional nudges became rebindable. Overkill flame UI appears when damage exceeds current Act bumper HP. Glyph trigger bugs (spare-act ball, Tempest mana, Oiled Inferno duration, Summoned spare on Bonus) and localisation key mismatches were fixed. Steam achievements for Pinball Wizard, Table Wizard, and Pinball God were sanitised.

Read the dedicated workflow on Abandon Ball & Soft-Locks and update your binds on Controls.

Hotfix #6 (16 Aug, v1.0.13) — performance and Easy learning

Sparks + Multiball lightning targeting was rebuilt for late-game performance. Damage numbers and particles are rate-limited under extreme DPS. Curses are removed from Easy and begin at Medium. Cult of Blood Act V tentacle-stone stages and Cult of Bone lower-bouncer reflect angles were reworked. Display settings load, cursor lock default, Restart Run passives, Endless Curse UI near the Altar, and Altar panel spam when rituals are already minimised were fixed.

How to play after these patches

New players should stay on Easy until cradle timing is stable — see Difficulty Guide. Soft-lock survivors use Abandon Ball sparingly. Endless grinders should re-check Act VI & Endless and Leaderboards because score ceilings and Act XXX behaviour changed under their feet.

Player checklist after updating

  • Rebind directional nudge and Abandon Ball.
  • Confirm Easy still has no curses if you are learning.
  • Drop Endless strategies that needed blocker-immune Multiball.
  • Retest Glyphs that “did nothing” on launch weekend.
  • Reopen the client once for sanitised achievement catch-up.

Page takeaway

After updating: rebind nudge and Abandon Ball, confirm Easy curse rules, drop blocker-immune Endless Multiball plans, retest “dead” Glyphs, reopen once for achievement catch-up.
