Cult of PiN Difficulty Guide
Six difficulty lanes — climb only when the basics are honest.
Cult of PiN offers six difficulty settings that change blockers, timers, and pressure. Climbing early feels brave and usually teaches bad habits.
What typically escalates
Bottom blockers appear earlier or differently, boss timers shrink, bumper HP rises, curses hit harder, bonus blockers take more hits.
Recommended climb
- Learn on comfortable difficulty until Act VI. 2. Raise one step. 3. Only then chase Master fantasy. Pair with Act VI & Endless.
Signs you are not ready
Repeated Act II drains, unread boss telegraphs, shop panic, inverted-flipper rage quits.
Signs you are ready
Consistent Ritual upgrades, spare balls entering bosses, bonus tables opening regularly.

Ego traps
Jumping difficulty to “earn” unlocks faster usually earns restarts faster. Unlocks want completed Acts. Choose the difficulty that produces completed Acts.
Data points
Track clear rate across ten runs per difficulty step. Climb only when clear rate is boring.
Easy difficulty after Hotfix #6
Curses are removed from Easy and only begin from Medium upward. That makes Easy the clean classroom for cradle, Peek, and first Ritual loops without inverted flippers or economy curses rewriting the lesson.
Recommended climb
- Easy until you can cradle both sides and fire your starting Ritual once per Act without panic.
- Medium when you want the first Curse literacy — see Blessings & Curses.
- Higher difficulties only after boss telegraphs on How to Beat Bosses feel readable.
Why this order beats ego
Launch players hit roughly ten thousand owners in days; the skill distribution is wide. Hotfixes are still landing. Climbing difficulty before bumper literacy (see Bumper Types) creates rage quits that look like balance problems.
Endless is not a difficulty toggle
Endless is a post–Act VI mode with its own Multiball/Blocker rules after Hotfix #2. Pair this page with Act VI & Endless and Leaderboards.
Ego traps
Jumping to high difficulty because a trailer looked easy creates inverted-flipper trauma and false “game broken” conclusions. Easy without curses exists to teach. Medium exists to introduce curses. Everything above exists to test whether your Glyph roles are real. Leaderboards do not require max difficulty — they require Act VI clears and Endless execution.
Page takeaway
Easy teaches without curses; Medium introduces curses; higher tiers test whether Glyph roles are real. Leaderboards need Act VI and Endless skill more than max difficulty pride.
Ego traps after Easy lost Curses
Jumping high because a trailer looked easy creates inverted-flipper trauma and false “broken game” posts. Easy exists to teach cradle and Peek. Medium introduces Curses. Higher tiers test whether Glyph roles are real. Leaderboards need Act VI clears and Endless execution more than max-difficulty pride. Pair with Abandon Ball so a soft-lock does not masquerade as a difficulty problem.
Easy: no Curses, teach cradle and Peek. Medium: first Curse literacy. Higher: test whether your Glyph roles survive bumper HP. Endless is not a difficulty slider; it is a post–Act VI mode with its own Multiball rules. If timing slips, fix frames on System Requirements before blaming difficulty. If seams appear, that is Abandon Ball, not a reason to jump Easy to max.
Promotion rules
Promote from Easy when both cradles are automatic and you have fired the starting Ritual on purpose. Promote from Medium when you can name a Curse you survived mechanically. Do not promote because a friend posted an All-Time screenshot. Leaderboards care about Act VI and Endless execution on the table you actually learned. If you are here because a friend said the game is easy, ignore them. The skill spread at ten thousand players is huge. Easy without Curses is respect for learners, not a slight. Medium is the real first test.
Difficulty is not prestige
Prestige is an Act VI clear on a table you understand, then a Monthly score you can repeat. Max difficulty with inverted flippers and unread bumpers is just a clip. Use Easy as a laboratory after each hotfix: confirm Abandon Ball, confirm no Curses, confirm Sparks plus Multiball still frames, then graduate.
